Rajasthan to receive 1,917 cusecs of water from Yamuna Water Agreement: Ghanshyam Tiwari

Jaipur, Feb 29 (IANS) BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Ghanshyam Tiwari slammed the Congress for spreading misinformation regarding the Yamuna Water Agreement. Tiwari accused the Congress of stalling important projects like the ERCP and the Yamuna Water Agreement, while the BJP government has worked towards their implementation. Tiwari criticized Rajasthan Congress President Govind Singh Dotasra for misleading the people.

In a press conference, Dotasra had accused the BJP government of making false claims about the ERCP water agreement and the Yamuna Water Agreement. He highlighted that an agreement was reached in 1994 regarding the distribution of water from the Yamuna among five states, including Rajasthan. However, he mentioned that Rajasthan’s share of water has been a contentious issue with Haryana not giving NOC to the state.

Tiwari rebutted these claims by stating that Rajasthan will indeed receive its allocated 1,917 cusecs of water from the Yamuna Water Agreement. He emphasized PM Modi’s assurance and the commitment to fulfilling the agreement. Tiwari mentioned that under the double-engine government, a DPR will be prepared within four months to supply water to specific districts. Additionally, he mentioned the construction of dams as per the state government’s agreement.

The Water Resources Minister, Suresh Rawat, highlighted that the earlier agreement only promised 0.6 cusecs of water to Rajasthan, whereas now the state will receive 1,917 cusecs of water. Rawat credited the efficient leadership of PM Modi, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for this development. Rawat expressed that this agreement will benefit the people of Shekhawati region by providing water for both drinking and irrigation purposes.
