Controversy Escalates: Jaleel Heads to Mumbai Seeking Action Against Ramgiri Maharaj, Nitesh Rane Following Incendiary Speeches

Speeches made by Ramgiri Maharaj and Nitesh Rane have snowballed into a huge controversy and the ruling coalition in Maharashtra is facing a huge challenge.

Former MP Jaleel has already stated on September 11 that he will lead a march to Mumbai on September 23 and give copies of the Constitution to the ruling Mahayuti leaders and senior police officials in Maharashtra.

He also added that he will seek action against Ramgiri Maharaj and Rane.

The situation was aggravated when JP leader Rane addressed two rallies in Shrirampur and Topkhana areas in Ahmednagar district on September 1 in which he expressed support for Ramgiri Maharaj.

Ramgiri Maharaj is in the news for making derogatory remarks about Islam and Prophet Muhammad. Several FIRs have been filed in Maharashtra against Rane over his speeches allegedly targeting Muslims. However, Mr. Jalil has accused the government and Police of not taking action against individuals named in the FIR.

Despite the supposedly peaceful nature of the march, chants of ‘Sar Tan se juda’ and death to Ramgiri Maharaj and Nitesh Rane were also heard in the rally.

Jaleel was speaking to the media and said that persons who believe in the constitution and the culture of Maharashtra have supported him in this agitation headed to Mumbai.

Jalil in a statement said,

“The state has forgotten the culture of Phule, Shahu Maharaj, Ambedkar and Shivaji Maharaj, so we are going to Mumbai to remind the government about it,”

Jalees stated that he intended to go to Mumbai via Gangapur and Vaijapur but a pro Hindu organization called for a March in Gangapur. The march aimed to target a particular community and to avoid any untoward situation he decided to take the ‘Tiranga Samvidhan’ rally through the Samruddhi Expressway. Jaleel also added that the inflammatory statements by the two are aimed at disturbing peace in the state and the government is conspiring to trigger violence to make electoral gains. He also alleged that the Mahayuti government is rattled by its defeat in the Lok Sabha and is now whipping up communal frenzy to benefit during elections

It is reported that a large number of people have joined the rally from Nanded.

Meanwhile, the NCP which is led by Ajit Pawar has already asked the BJP to rein in Rane and expressed disapproval about the statements of Nitesh Rane against the Muslim community. NCP (SP) national president Sharad Pawar has also demanded the BJP to rein in the BJP MLA

Meanwhile Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis in a statement said,

“Nitesh Rane was a Hindutva leader. He is aggressively taking up the cause of Hindutva. But myself and his father, Narayan Rane have spoken to him and told him to restrain himself while delivering his speeches.”

Niteash Rane is unrepentant and stated,

“Pawar has not stood for Hindus…When stones were flung at Ganesh processions and idols, Sharad Pawar did not even register his protest. If he had done so, Hindus would have felt better.”
