Ranveer Allahbadia & Samay Raina’s India’s Got Talent Controversy
The genesis of the controversy can be traced to an offensive question posed by the YouTuber to a participant of the show:
“Would you rather watch your parents have s*x every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?”

Ranveer Allahbadia made the offensive remarks in the presence of panellists, including content creator Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Samay Raina, and social media influencer Apoorva Makhija. The video went viral immediately, and soon clips from the incident found their way to almost every social media platform.
Journalists like Neelesh Misra were outraged by the clip, and in a fiery response, he termed Ranveer Allahbadia a perverted content creator. Misra also lambasted the show and its creators, mincing no words in a social media post that read:
“This content is not designated as adult content—it can be seen with ease even by a child if the algorithm takes him or her there. The creators of the platform have zero sense of responsibility. I am not surprised that four people at the desk—and lots in the audience—celebrated this and had a great laugh. Decency is not incentivized in India—by platforms or audiences—and creators are stooping lower and lower for audience reach and revenue.”
The post also led to other netizens joining the debate, and Ranveer Allahbadia’s comments were derided as a product of a sick mind. There has been no official response from either Ranveer Allahbadia or the other participants of the show.
The comments have once again ignited a huge debate about the responsibility of content creators on social media. The uncensored nature of social media has also been lamented by many netizens and is being cited as one of the main reasons content creators peddle anything, including inappropriate content. Netizens are also calling for clearer guidelines to be followed by social media platforms to prevent such instances.
The Mumbai Police, in a statement on Monday, stated that a probe has been started against the podcaster for his offensive comments on India’s Got Talent.
