Rashtriya Gokul Mission: Objectives, Characteristics, And More Details

The Rashtriya Gokul Mission was founded in December 2014 as a project to create and preserve indigenous cattle varieties to improve milk performance and productivity through scientific methods that include nutritional benefits and farming techniques. The Rashtriya Gokul Mission was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. During the 12th Five Year Plan, this project was started as part of the National Program for Cattle Breeding and Raising Livestock.

Objectives

The Rashtriya Gokul Mission was established to achieve the following goals:

  1. To promote and protect indigenous species.
  2. To start a breed’s continual improvement in an attempt to optimise the genetic structure of the breed.
  3. The goal is to boost milk yield and profitability.
  4. For enhancing generic cattle, premium indigenous varieties such as Tharparkar, Deoni, Rathi, Sahiwal, Red Sindhi and Gir are used.
  5. To make disease-free, elevated bulls available for spontaneous service.

Raiya Gokul Mission Initiatives

For the preservation and improvement of indigenous cattle breeds, the Rashtriya Gokul Mission has made various measures. The following are some of the significant efforts done by the Indian government throughout the execution of this mission:

To produce indigenous breeds, many cattle production centres were formed. Gokul Grams were the names given to these development strategies.

Kashmiri activist Yana Mir accuses Delhi Customs of 'harassment' at IGI Airport

Kashmiri activist Yana Mir recently accused Delhi Customs of harassing her during a checking at IGI Airport. Mir, known as Kashmir’s first female vlogger and journalist, felt offended and described her treatment as less than welcoming, contrasting it with her perception in London as an “Indian media warrior”.

According to Mir, her reception at Delhi airport involved questioning about her shopping bags and demands for receipts. While Mir insisted she was not seeking special treatment, Delhi Customs maintained that their staff remained courteous throughout the process, following routine bag scanning procedures for international passengers.

Delhi Customs responded to Mir’s allegations by asserting that bag scanning of international passengers is a standard procedure, and Mir’s luggage was eventually scanned after she initially refused to cooperate. They emphasized the importance of treating all passengers equally, regardless of their status or profession, and shared surveillance footage to support their claims.

Mir’s experience at the airport highlighted a discrepancy between her treatment in London and Delhi. While Mir felt offended and criticized the lack of courtesy and professionalism, Delhi Customs maintained that their staff remained courteous and that Mir did not cooperate initially, leading to her luggage being scanned ultimately with the help of airline staff and Customs officers.

Tamil Nadu Set to Become Major Space Centre with New Rocket Port

Chennai, Feb 26 (IANS) – Tamil Nadu is on the verge of becoming a significant space hub in India, with the construction of a rocket/satellite makers, rocket port, space propellant park, defence corridor, and aerospace park. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone for India’s second rocket port at Kulasekarapattinam on February 28 during his visit to Tuticorin District, as stated by a senior ISRO official.

The new rocket port at Kulasekarapattinam will cater to the launch needs of both ISRO and private rocket makers. Former Director of ISRO, M Annadurai, highlighted the significance of the new rocket port, stating that Tamil Nadu has the potential to become a global space sector hub with the entry of small rockets and increased drone manufacturing. Additionally, the location of Tuticorin District offers an ideal setting for rocket launches towards the south.

The strategic positioning on the east coast and proximity to the Equator make Kulasekarapattinam an optimal site for placing satellites into polar orbit. With private and government rocket companies looking to offer cost-effective launch services, Tamil Nadu’s development as a space centre is expected to further accelerate. In line with this, the Tamil Nadu Government plans to establish a Space Industrial and Propellant Park near Tuticorin District spanning 2,000 acres, to be set up by the Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation Ltd.

Moreover, ISRO will inaugurate the Semi-cryogenics Integrated Engine and Stage Test facility at ISRO Propulsion Complex in Mahendragiri during the Prime Minister’s visit to Kerala. The facility is equipped with testing systems for engines with up to 200 tonnes of thrust, enabling the development of semi-cryogenic engines that will enhance ISRO’s rocket payload capability.

While Tamil Nadu strengthens its position as a space centre, the state continues to be a significant player in the atomic power sector. With multiple nuclear power generation facilities operational and under construction, Tamil Nadu is also advancing its atomic power capabilities. The progression in both space and atomic power sectors signifies the state’s growing prominence in the science and technology domain.

In conclusion, Tamil Nadu’s evolution as a major space centre with the establishment of the new rocket port and related facilities showcases the state’s commitment to advancing in the fields of space exploration and atomic power generation, positioning itself as a key player in India’s technological landscape.
