Real Madrid lodges complaint against referee over failure to report racist abuse towards Vinicius Jr.
Real Madrid Filing Complaint Against Referee for Omitting Racism in Report
Real Madrid has filed a complaint against referee Juan Martínez Munuera for omitting the alleged racist abuse suffered by Vinicius Jr in the recent game against Osasuna. Despite scoring twice in the match, Vinicius Jr continues to face racism incidents.
The club accused Munuera of deliberately omitting the humiliating chants from his report, despite being alerted by Vinicius Jr during the game. Real Madrid has taken the matter to the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee and the State Commission Against Violence and Racism, Xenophobia, and Intolerance in Sport for actions against the responsible parties.
Furthermore, Real Madrid has also included the racist and hateful abuse aimed at Vinicius Jr by Atletico Madrid and Barcelona fans in a complaint filed before the General State Prosecutor. The club condemns these acts of racism, discrimination, and hate and demands measures to eradicate violence against their player.
The club stated, “Real Madrid once again condemns these violent attacks of racism, discrimination, and hate and demands that measures finally be taken in order to eradicate the violence to which our player Vinicius Junior has been subjected.” The move showcases Real Madrid’s stance against racism in football.
