How Did Rebekah Byler Die? Police Launch Homicide Investigation Of Pregnant Amish Woman Found Dead In Pennsylvania Home
The Pennsylvania State Police have opened a homicide investigation into the death of 23-year-old Amish woman Rebekah Byler.
Rebekah Byler was six months pregnant, and her body was found on Fish Flats Road in Sparta Township on Monday, February 26, 2024.
According to police, the woman’s two young children were at home when her body was discovered.
The police have not revealed the cause of her death, but unconfirmed reports said that they are treating the incident as a case of homicide, and until the last news came in, the police have not named any suspects.
Police Seek Help
The police have appealed to anyone with information regarding the incident to report to the police by calling the state police in Corry at 814-663-2043.
The police have also started tracking the movements of the victim and her family 24 hours before her death.
As per the information provided by State Police Lt. Mark Weindorf, troopers were dispatched to a residence on Fish Flats Road, which runs from Centerville northeast to Route 89 south of Spartansburg, after a call was received from the deceased’s husband.
On reaching the spot, police found the dead body of Rebekah Byler in suspicious circumstances. The Crawford County Coroner, Eric Coston, reportedly pronounced Byler dead at the scene at 1:45 p.m.
As per State Police Lt. Mark Weindorf,
“At approximately 12:30, PSP Corry got a call from 911 of a deceased female who was found at the scene. At this point, we have confirmed the identity of the female, that she is deceased, and it looks like suspicious circumstances.”
The police have not revealed the circumstances in which Rebekah Byler died.
A journalist, Jennifer Borrasso from KDKA-TV, has however reported via a Tweet and Facebook Post that she died from gunshot wounds.
Officers did not reveal any further details, citing that a police investigation is ongoing.
Rebekah Byler’s Autopsy Report Awaited
More details on the incident are expected once the final autopsy results are released.
The autopsy results are expected to be released by mid-afternoon Tuesday and will take place in Erie County.
