LinkedIn Co-founder Reid Hoffman’s Donation to Kamala Harris: Why Tech Companies Are Rallying Behind the Republican Party Presidential Candidate

Close to the footprints of Reed Hastings, executive chairman of Netflix, who donated $7 million for US Vice President Kamala Harris’s election campaign, LinkedIn Co-Founder Reid Hoffman has also donated $7 million for Harris’s election campaign.
Reid Hoffman praises Kamal Harris
Reid Hoffman termed Kamala Harris much more pro-business compared to Donald Trump.
Hastings is also actively campaigning to collect $100 million from fellow Silicon Valley entrepreneurs for the Kamala Harris election campaign.
Ron Conway, who is dubbed as one of Silicon Valley’s ‘super angels,’ has been privately calling for Silicon Valley bigwigs to support Harris’s campaign.
However, Reid Hoffman’s donation comes with a rider—he wants Kamala Harris to fire Lina Khan, the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission.
Hoffman had mentioned his demand at the press conference announcing the donation.
Hoffman stated that Donald Trump wants more tariffs, which are not conducive to business.
On the other hand, Hoffman said that Vice President Kamala Harris is much more pro-business compared to both Trump and his mate Vance.
Hoffman further stated that for a business to thrive, there must be stability, unity, and the rule of law.
Reid Hoffman’s demand to sack Lina Khan comes from his long-held notion that the FTC is trying to undermine big tech companies because they are increasingly becoming more powerful.
Lina Khan, the FTC Chairman, has been the nemesis of Big Tech companies, and it is her take that large US tech firms dominate the sector and always thrive because there is a paucity of competition.
The FTC under Lina Khan was instrumental in instituting an antitrust probe against Microsoft for its partnership with Inflection AI. The FTC has also opened investigations against Microsoft, OpenAI, and Nvidia, and it is clear why it has earned the ire of tech companies, including LinkedIn.
