Renault R5 E-Tech Unveiled at Geneva Motor Show

Renault has unveiled its latest electric vehicle, the R5 E-Tech, at the Geneva Motor Show. The compact urban car is packed with features and offers a practical driving range. Drawing inspiration from the Renault R5 and Super 5 models of the 1970s and 1980s, the R5 E-Tech aims to cater to new-age EV customers, especially younger buyers.

The design of the Renault R5 E-Tech combines modern elements with retro influences, such as the flashy paint options and vertical taillights reminiscent of its predecessors. The car’s wheelbase of 2,540 mm and flat floorbed aim to enhance backseat comfort, while the agile and nimble nature of the EV make it a promising option for urban driving.

The Renault R5 E-Tech will be available with two battery pack options. The 40 KWh variant offers a range of 300 kms and is priced at €25,000 (approximately ₹22.50 lakh), while the 52 KWh version with a claimed range of 400 kms will start shipping in the second half of 2024. Features like bidirectional charging and V2L support add versatility to the EV, allowing owners to sell energy back to the grid.

With a focus on safety and convenience, the R5 E-Tech comes equipped with a large infotainment screen, ample storage space, and a range of active and passive safety features. The combination of retro charm and modern technology positions the Renault R5 E-Tech as a competitive offering in the evolving EV market.
