Report: 56% of Indian employees trust their bosses to teach AI skills

A recent global talent report by consulting firm Mercer revealed that Indian employees are more optimistic about their organisations teaching them skills needed to adapt to AI and automation. The report, based on insights from over 12,000 executives and employees globally, highlighted Indian employees’ higher belief in receiving necessary skills.

According to the report, 46% of Indian employees feel their organisations effectively communicate how AI will enhance their work, surpassing the global average of 37%. However, only 23% of Indian employees believe their leaders are embracing AI, compared to 16% globally.

Indians were also found to be more interested in receiving regular performance feedback, with 50% expressing a desire for it compared to the global average of 42%. Job security (37%) and a positive work culture (36%) were identified as top priorities for Indian employees.

Sukhmeet Singh, Mercer India’s Talent and Transformation Leader, emphasized the importance of embracing a digital-first culture in the era of India’s digital transformation. Singh highlighted the potential for AI to revolutionize talent development in India by unlocking human capital’s potential, empowering skill acquisition, and driving innovation.
