Report: AI, Oil & Gas Sectors Experience Over 20% Growth in Hiring in February

New Delhi, March 4 (IANS) Hiring for roles in artificial intelligence (AI) and Oil & Gas sectors has seen a growth of over 20 per cent in February 2024, as per a recent report. AI-related roles like Machine Learning Engineer and Full Stack AI Scientist experienced a significant increase, with a jump of 100 per cent and 44 per cent, respectively.

In the Oil & Gas sector, hiring rose by 21 per cent compared to last year, while the Pharma sector also saw a 9 per cent growth. Dr. Pawan Goyal, Chief Business Officer of Naukri.com, stated, “This month’s JobSpeak index shows a transformative shift in India’s hiring landscape, with notable growth in Oil & Gas, Pharma, and AI sectors.”

The report highlighted a continued demand for new talent in non-metro cities, with hiring corrections observed in metro cities. In February 2024, Raipur led in new job creation with a 14 per cent growth over last year, followed by Surat, Jodhpur, and Gandhinagar with 12 per cent, 10 per cent, and 8 per cent growth, respectively.

Senior professionals with over 16 years of experience received the maximum job offers, while job offers in the salary range of more than 20 lakh per annum increased by 23 per cent in February. The job market has shown cautious optimism with these trends.

The job market’s focus on sectors like AI and Oil & Gas reflects a promising shift in hiring patterns, with continued growth in non-metro cities and increased opportunities for experienced professionals. The coming months will be crucial in observing how these trends shape the overall job market landscape.
