Report: Number of Indian Women Choosing Freelancing Jobs Doubles in the Past Year

The number of women freelancers in India has doubled in the past year, rising from 4% to 8%. The growth is attributed to the convenience of the gig economy. Female workers are praised for their hard work and creativity, with a 56% increase in job opportunities for women this year.

According to Sekhar Garisa, CEO of foundit, “Female workers play a major role in the success of a company.” The IT/Computers-Software sector leads in providing opportunities to women, with 36% of its workforce being female. The Recruitment/Staffing/RPO sector follows with 24% and the BFSI sector with 23%.

Women’s participation in the workforce is notably positive across metro cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Pune. The report highlights an increase in leadership opportunities for women, with 9% of job postings specifically targeting leadership positions in February this year.

The trend of women opting for freelancing jobs in India is on the rise, showcasing their valuable contribution to the workforce and the importance of diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
