RFK Jr and Kick Kennedy Whale Head Story Resurface; Environmental Group Demands Investigation

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. may have hanged his boots and withdrawn from the November 2024 Presidential race in favour of Republican candidate Donald Trump.

However, controversies are not leaving his side and the latest is the resurfacing of an interview where his daughter Kick Kennedy said he cut a dead whale’s head with a chainsaw.

An environmental advocacy organization, the Center for Biological Diversity Action Fund called for an investigation against the former presidential candidate who may have committed a felony by transporting a marine mammal skull.

Brett Hartl, the center’s national political director has asked the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to investigate the incident.

RFK Jr and Kick Kennedy Whale Head Story

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. daughter Kick Kennedy in an interview given to Town & Country Magazine in 2012 detailed how her father cut off a whale’s head with a chainsaw in or around 1994 after it washed up on Squaw Island in Hyannis Port, Mass.

Kick Kennedy Jr later bungee-corded it to the roof of the family’s minivan and drove it to Mount Kisco, N.Y.

Describing the process of transporting the whale head, Kick Kennedy revealed,

“Every time we accelerated on the highway, whale juice would pour into the windows of the car, and it was the rankest thing on the planet. We all had plastic bags over our heads with mouth holes cut out, and people on the highway were giving us the finger, but that was just normal day-to-day stuff for us.”

Hartl in a statement said that it is against the law to possess “any part of an animal” protected by the Marine Mammal Protection and Endangered Species Acts.

He added that transporting the skull across state lines is a felony violation of the 1900 Lacey Act.

The act prohibits the transportation of any wildlife, dead or alive, that was reduced to personal possession.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. had earlier admitted that he left a dead bear cub in New York City’s Central Park a decade ago.

Hartl stated that an unverified anecdote does not provide enough grounds for conducting an investigation.

However in this case Mr. Kennedy has admitted that he has taken other species of wildlife for his benefit which is reckless and also shows a disregard for existing laws. Hartl also asked Kennedy to surrender any illegally obtained wildlife that he possessed.
