RFK Jr. Considers Quitting Presidential Campaign to Join Forces with Trump, Running Mate Shanahan Reveals

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is reported to be contemplating quitting the quest for the White House and joining hands with Republican nominee Donald Trump.

This was hinted at by RFK Jr’s running mate Nicole Shanahan in a new interview.

However, Nicole Shanahan also stated that RFK Jr. would consider remaining in the race to achieve a vote percentage of more than 5% to establish themselves as a viable third-party alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties and build on that ballot access for the 2028 election.

Shanahan’s interview comes at a time when Vice President Kamala Harris is set to accept the Democratic presidential nomination in Chicago later this week.

RFK Jr. May Join Trump, Ends White House Bid, Says Shanahan

Shanahan, in an interview given to the “Impact Theory” podcast, said,

“There are two options that we’re looking at, and one is staying in, forming that new party, but we run the risk of a Kamala Harris and Walz presidency because we draw votes from Trump, or we draw somehow more votes from Trump or we walk away right now and join forces with … Donald Trump and you know, we walk away from that and explain to our base why we’re making this decision,”

RFK Jr’s running mate Nicole Shanahan added that it was not an easy decision to make.

Nicole Shanahan was also asked if she would run for governor of California, where she lives, if Kennedy and she ended their campaign.

To this, Shanahan responded and said that she would consider running as well since she wanted to remain involved in California.

However, it is not clear if would-be voters would necessarily go to Trump and his running mate, Sen. JD Vance of Ohio if Kennedy and Shanahan quit the election contest.

According to some analysts, Democratic nominee Vice President Harris would benefit, especially in the swing states, if Kennedy remained in the fray as a candidate, as opposed to when Kennedy was not an option.

Shanahan stated that they have not invested millions of dollars just to be a spoiler candidate.

The aim is to fix this country and do the right thing.

Experts also contend that Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is finding it difficult to fund his campaign and is desperately short of finances.

The Kennedy campaign spent $7 million in July but could raise only $5.6 million. Kennedy is left with only $3.9 million in the bank and $3.5 million in debt.

Kennedy’s support base has also shrunk, and while polls suggested that he had a 16.7% support base last November, the latest polls suggest that his support base has fallen to a dismal 4.5%.

RFK Jr’s public image also took a beating, and his approval rating is a net -7.4%.
