Chester-le-Street (Durham), July 22 (IANS). Wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant has joined the Indian Test team here after recovering from Covid-19 and completing isolation.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India has confirmed this.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) tweeted, “Namaste Pant, it feels great to have you back in the team.
The BCCI announced on 15 July that both Rishabh Pant and training assistant Dayanand Guarani had tested positive for COVID-19. The board had said that the young wicketkeeper was already in his eighth day of isolation at the time of the announcement.
India’s other wicketkeepers on the tour, Wriddhiman Saha, are still in isolation due to Guarani’s contact with bowling coach Bharat Arun and standby batsman Abhimanyu Easwaran. All three are expected to come out of isolation on July 24.
In the absence of both Pant and Saha, the Indian team has fielded KL Rahul as the wicketkeeper in the ongoing warm-up match against County Select XI.
