Rumors About Elon Musk Taking Over TikTok in US Continue, YouTuber MrBeast Also States He Could Buy the Platform
As the deadline for TikTok’s social media platform to find a US partner draws near there are rumours that its operations in the US could be purchased by Elon Musk who already owns the social media platform X, formerly Twitter.
The rumours had started a huge debate on the web but were soon quashed when TikTok negated any such development and termed the rumours as pure fiction.

The report was first published by Bloomberg which said that Chinese officials are trying to fend off a potential ban on the platform after January 19 which has been the deadline set for it to find an American partner for its operation in the US and sell its holdings.
Bloomberg further added that the Chinese officials were amenable to the Musk X platform taking the reins of the TikTok operations in the US since Musk has been long associated with doing business within China via Tesla which has a large manufacturing unit in China.
While TikTok has dismissed any such developments, netizens continue to discuss the possibility and are putting their comments on social media. Some users have welcomed the development while prominent personality YouTuber MrBeast joined the conversation and joked that he is ready to buy TikTok in the US to prevent it from getting banned.

One user wrote,
“Well what are we doing to save it then.”
Another user added,
“Why do I have a feeling Elon is gonna buy it anyway.”
However, there were a sizable number of users who were not very happy with the platform going under Musk’s ownership.
One user stated,
“We would rather the app be banned than Elon taking it over. We already saw how he made Twitter go downhill….”
Another user warned and stated,
“If elon has both twitter and tiktok thats it .. he will the internet”
Right now the fate of TikTok operations in the US hangs in a balance. The biggest concern is national security with many security experts fearing that TikTok could be manipulated to shape the political climate in the US and also used as a tool of espionage.
On its part, TikTok has repeatedly maintained that it has no connection with the Chinese Communist Party or the PLA. It also maintained that banning the platform would contravene the provisions of First Amendment rights in the U.S.
The incumbent next President of the US, Donald Trump has asked the US Supreme Court to delay its decision. Trump is also reported to have met TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew at his Mar-a-Lago estate in December.
