Russia issues warning against potential attacks on Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant
Russia Warns Ukraine Against Destabilizing Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Plant
Moscow, April 6 (IANS) Russia has issued a warning to Ukraine and its Western allies regarding any attempts to attack or destabilize the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant (NPP). Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova urged the IAEA to document any attacks from the Ukrainian side.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP has reported multiple Ukrainian military drone arrivals at the plant in recent days. Although no damage to critical infrastructure was reported and the plant’s operation was not affected, concerns have been raised. The plant’s press service confirmed the incidents as reported by Xinhua news agency.
In a recent development, a backup power line supplying the plant experienced an outage on Thursday. The reasons for the outage are still unclear, but it did not impact the radiation level at the plant. The situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP remains under scrutiny amid tensions between Russia and Ukraine.
The Russian Ministry’s warning comes at a critical time when tensions in the region are high. The IAEA has been called upon to monitor and document any potential threats to the safety and stability of the nuclear facility. The situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP is being closely monitored as both Russia and Ukraine remain on high alert.
