South Korea plans to invest 710.2 billion won ($526.9 million) in integrating AI into daily life. The AI Strategy High-Level Consultative Council approved 69 projects to benefit people across sectors like healthcare, public services, and industry. These projects include software for diagnosing rare diseases and AI-based medical devices for autism prediction.
The Ministry of Science and ICT disclosed that 75.5 billion won will enhance daily life, 288.1 billion won for workplace projects, and 115.7 billion won for public administration. AI education and ethics programs will receive 230.9 billion won in funding. The goal is to make AI accessible and beneficial to all members of society.
Specific initiatives include the creation of software for diagnosing rare pediatric diseases and assisting in the diagnosis of serious medical conditions. AI-powered digital medical devices for predicting and managing autism are also in the works. AI will also enhance public services for individuals with disabilities and elderly people living alone.
The government plans to implement AI in various industries such as law, medicine, and counseling. AI technologies will be utilized in disaster response for situations like fires, floods, and infectious disease outbreaks. The focus is on improving the quality of life through innovative AI solutions across different sectors.
