Saif becomes champion of tennis ball cricket, backs Tigers of Kolkata

Saif Ali Khan, co-owner of Tigers of Kolkata, expressed his excitement for the upcoming tennis ball T10 tournament, ISPL, connecting his family legacy to the city of Kolkata. He believes in the cricket-entertainment synergy and sees himself as a fitting ambassador for the team. Speaking at a press conference in Mumbai, he highlighted the importance of taking cricket from the streets to the stadium with the tournament, which will feature six teams including Kolkata.

Saif, reflecting on his family’s cricketing ties, said, “This is a wonderful initiative. It is a great thing for cricket too. The idea is to take cricket from the streets to the stadium. The beginning of cricket for everyone is with a tennis ball.” He also emphasized the growing connection between cricket and entertainment over time. With his roots in Kolkata and a strong family history in both the city and the sport, he feels proud to represent Tigers of Kolkata in the tournament.

The ISPL will showcase six teams from Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, and Srinagar, competing in 19 matches scheduled in Mumbai from March 2 to March 9. Saif’s enthusiasm for the tournament and his passion for cricket underline his support for the initiative that aims to bring a new, exciting format of the game to the forefront. The tournament marks a significant step towards popularizing tennis ball cricket and engaging fans in a unique cricketing experience that combines skill and entertainment.
