Samsung Display Constructs Production Line for Next-Generation OLED Technology

Samsung Display has announced the construction of a new 8.6-generation IT OLED production line in Asan, South Korea. The move aims to strengthen its position in the global flat screen market by focusing on OLED panels for IT devices and smartphones.

The new A6 line will be Samsung Display’s sixth OLED line and will be the highest-generation OLED line in the world upon completion. The company plans to install major equipment this year and commence mass production in 2026.

Last year, Samsung Display revealed plans to invest $3.1 billion in the IT OLED field by 2026 to produce 10 million laptop panels annually. The global IT OLED market is predicted to expand from $2.5 billion in revenue in 2024 to $8.9 billion in 2029, with an annual growth rate of 28.6 percent, according to market research firm Omnia.

This strategic move by Samsung Display underscores its commitment to innovation and market leadership in OLED technology for IT devices. The new production line is expected to further solidify the company’s position in the competitive flat screen market.
