Sanju Samson believes Riyan Parag can bring something special to Indian cricket at IPL 2024

Rajasthan Royals (RR) marked their second consecutive win in IPL 2024 with a 12-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC), thanks to Riyan Parag’s outstanding match-winning innings of 84 runs. Skipper Sanju Samson hailed Parag’s potential, saying he could offer something extraordinary to Indian cricket in the future.

Parag initially struggled to score, making 26 runs off the first 26 balls he faced. However, he turned the tide after Ravichandran Ashwin’s cameo, smashing 58 runs in just 19 balls to reach his fifty in 34 balls. His innings comprised seven fours and six sixes, including a remarkable 25-run over against Anrich Nortje.

In the bowling department, Yuzvendra Chahal and Nandre Burger claimed two wickets each, while Sandeep Sharma and Avesh held their nerve with precise yorkers in the death overs. Samson praised the team’s performance and highlighted the importance of every player contributing to the victory.

Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant expressed disappointment over the defeat in his 100th IPL game for the franchise. Despite a strong start, DC fell short in the chase of 186 runs, with Pant urging the team to learn from the experience and improve in the upcoming matches.

Reflecting on the match, Pant credited the platform set by Warner and Marsh but acknowledged the team’s struggle in the death overs. He emphasized the need for better execution and performance in the next game to rectify the mistakes made against Rajasthan Royals.

Riyan Parag’s stellar performance and Rajasthan Royals’ overall team effort secured the win over Delhi Capitals, showcasing the competitive spirit and potential of players in the IPL 2024 season. The victory was a testament to the team’s resilience and ability to overcome challenges to emerge victorious in the tournament.
