Sarvesh Kushare clinches high jump crown in California; Paralympics medalist Nishad places sixth

Indian athlete Sarvesh Kushare added another feather to his cap by winning the men’s high jump title at the Bryan Clay Invitational 2024 in California. Kushare, with a personal best of 2.27m, cleared 2.19m to secure first place in Group A. Nishad Kumar, who won a silver medal at the Tokyo Paralympics, finished tied for sixth place with a leap of 1.98m. Tejaswin Shankar, the national record holder, did not compete as scheduled.

Parvej Khan impressed in the men’s 1500m event, finishing 12th with a personal best of 3:38.76, marking himself as the fourth-fastest Indian in the history of the event. His previous best was 3:40.89. Overall, Indian athletes showcased their talent at the prestigious event, with Kushare shining brightly among the competitors. Indian sports enthusiasts eagerly await more such victories on the international stage.
