Sector 144 imposed in Noida ahead of festivities

Noida police have imposed orders under section 144 of the CrPC ahead of festivities i.e From February 4th to 28th limiting public crowds. The decision has been taken to prevent Covid 19 from spreading.

Earlier in January section 144 was imposed in the city but later decides to lift it. Drones will also be not allowed within a radius of 1 Kilometre of any Gobt offices, taking photos and videos are also prohibited as well as using loudspeakers in public places.

“Due to these festivals, there is a possibility of a law-and-order situation by religious, political or other groups. As a preventive measure and to maintain peace in the district, Section 144 is being imposed.

For any gathering of over five people at a public place, permission needs to be taken from the police,” said a spokesperson from the Gautam Budh Nagar police department.

The order states that the entire month of February has many festivals including Mohammad Hazrat Ali’s birth anniversary and Sant Ravidas Jayanti on the 5th, Mahashivratri on the 18th and Valentine’s Day on the 14th. A lot of examinations are also scheduled too in this month. 

The use of loudspeakers is completely banned from 10 pm to 6 am, while during the day, they can only be used within permissible noise levels. Additionally, offering prayers or carrying out processions is completely banned on public places or roads.

Putting up religious posters, banners, flags or any other material on the walls or premises of religious places will also not be allowed. People have also been asked to not leave their animals such as pigs and dogs around religious places. Carrying any kind of sharp, inflammable or any other dangerous objects is also restricted- stated by the police in the official statement.
