Sexyy Red created a huge ruckus when posted an AI-generated image of her hand in hand with the late Rev. Dr. King via X on Monday.
It was also Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
Her actions were criticized by Bernice King, lawyer, global thought leader, activist and daughter of late civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., and it led the rapper to remove the image and issue an apology.
The rapper had also posted another doctored image with her holding a wad of cash at the 1963 March on Washington, where MLK delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech, with the caption, “Happy MLK Day!!”
Bernice King said on X:
“This is intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful to my family and my father, who is not here to respond himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty. Please delete.”

She also deleted the pictures.
Sexyy Red was not alone in being derided for her actions. Another prominent content creator Snoop Dogg also faced a lot of flak sharing an Instagram post of MLK Jr. on January 21. Just after performing at the recent Crypto Ball held in Washington D.C. in honour of President Donald Trum,p he posted a series of videos of MLK Jr. Notably Snoop Dogg did not register his presence at the event nor did he air his political beliefs.
In sharp contrast, Sexyy Red was very vocal in her political affiliations and made no bones for her admiration of the present President of the United States.
Sexyy Red had in a Theo Von interview stated,
“I like Trump. Yeah, they support him in the hood. We need him back in office. We need him back because, baby, them checks.”
Back in 2023, she had once stated that the US needed Trump back. However, post 2024 Presidential elections she stated that she had voted for Kamala Harris.
