Shaadi.com CEO praises government’s ONDC and UPI initiative on Shark Tank India 3

New Delhi, April 2 (IANS) Shaadi.com Founder and CEO Anupam Mittal has praised the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) during the third season of Shark Tank India, drawing parallels between the initiative and the Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

During the Kiko Live pitch segment of Shark Tank India, Mittal highlighted the potential of ONDC to democratise digital commerce, allowing Indian startups to access vast opportunities in the market. He stated, “What UPI did for payments, the ONDC Network offers the same transformation for digital commerce.”

The founder’s discussion of the ONDC Network on the popular show emphasizes its role in fostering inclusive digital commerce for businesses of all sizes. T. Koshy, MD & CEO at ONDC, highlighted the importance of the Open Network as a catalyst for innovation, essential for startups to thrive.

ONDC, an initiative of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce, aims to democratise e-commerce by enabling sellers to reach buyers through an Open Network. Since its inception in 2021, ONDC has rapidly grown with industry-leading names, local sellers, and artisans becoming part of the network.
