D’chica Bags Rs 80 lakh Deal on ‘Shark Tank India 3’
Mumbai, Feb 21 (IANS) – On the latest episode of ‘Shark Tank India 3’, D’chica’s, a brand focused on puberty-essential products for teen girls, secured a deal worth Rs 80 lakh with Namita Thapar and Vineeta Singh. Co-founders Richa Kapila and Vani Chugh from Delhi made their debut on the show, aiming to elevate their brand to new levels of success.
Offering a range of products from bras and period panties to athleisure and footwear, D’chica strives to empower teenage girls during their crucial adolescent years with its carefully curated collection. The co-founders, bound by family ties as sisters-in-law, embarked on this entrepreneurial journey after facing setbacks with their previous venture focused on infants and toddlers.
Even in the face of challenges and closure of their initial business, Richa and Vani remained undeterred, drawing invaluable lessons from their experiences. In 2019, they founded D’chica with a commitment to celebrating the transition from adolescence to womanhood, launching their first inner wear collection in 2020.
During their appearance on ‘Shark Tank India 3’, they asked for Rs 80 lakh in exchange for one percent equity. They impressed the investors with their manufacturing capabilities and the unique approach of onboarding a consulting gynaecologist, Dr. Garima, for community building.
Ultimately, they sealed the deal with Namita and Vineeta at Rs 80 lakh for two percent equity plus one percent royalty until the sum is recouped. Vani Chugh expressed her excitement on behalf of D’chica, stating that ‘Shark Tank India’ has helped their brand reach millions of Indian homes and create mainstream conversations about topics such as periods, body image, and confidence.
The episode of ‘Shark Tank India 3’, streaming on Sony LIV, showcased D’chica’s journey and success in securing a significant deal to further their brand’s growth and impact in the market.
