Shark Tank India Judges To Invest Rs 2 CR in Dil Foods; All Deets About The Brand and Valuation Inside!

Dive into Shark Tank India's latest episode as Dil Foods secures a Rs 2 crore deal with all four sharks.

In the current third season of Shark Tank India, four judges or Sharks have agreed to invest Rs 2 crore in Dil Foods, a virtual restaurant operator based in Bengaluru, at a total valuation of Rs 75 Cr.

Dil Foods was founded by Arpita Aditi in 2022. Arpita Aditi has years of experience in firms like Swiggy, Reliance Capital, and Himalayan Drugs. She is a biotech engineer from MIT. Currently, her startup, Dil Foods, is operating 8 virtual food brands.

The eight food brands under Dil Foods, including itself, are Khichdi Bar, Bhole ke Chole, Bihari Bowl, House of Andhra, The Chaat Cult, Aahar, and Dil Punjabi. All of these brands provide foodies with a diverse range of flavors from numerous Indian regions.

The Pitch on the third season of Shark Tank India

On January 26, 2024, in an episode of the third season of Shark Tank India, the founder of Dil Foods, the engineering graduate Arpita Aditi, presented the business model of her startup and sought a Rs 50 lakhs investment against a 0.5 percent equity stake.

All the judges were impressed by the entrepreneurial spirit that Arpita possessed along with the innovative model that she presented. Thus, after a bidding war, the deal was finalized with a 2.67% equity stake for Rs 2 crore investment, valuing the company at Rs 75 Cr.

The deal was finally done with all four sharks: CEO of OYO Rooms, Ritesh Agarwal; CEO and co-founder of Lenskart, Peyush Bansal; CEO and co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, Vineeta Singh; and MD & CEO at Edelweiss Mutual Fund, Radhika Gupta. Initially, each judge offered Arpita numerous amounts. However, in the end, Arpita accepted the collective offer of all four sharks.

Dil Foods’ Vision and Business Model

Dil Foods is currently operating as a virtual kitchen. It has partnered with more than 65 local restaurants in Hyderabad and Bangalore. This business model aims to optimize the structure of the food business, manage daily meal operations, and focus on creating virtual brands.

In the third season of Shark Tank India, Arpita shared her vision to establish Dil Foods as a profitable and sustainable “restaurant ecosystem nationwide,” where the focus will be on “Indian state food dishes.
