Sharpshooter of infamous Gogi gang nabbed in Delhi

The main sharpshooter of the Gogi gang, Ankit, was arrested by the Special Cell of Delhi Police for firing at a property dealer’s office for extortion of Rs 1 crore in the national capital. Ankit, also known as Vishal and Yamraj, is a resident of Karala in Delhi and has been involved in various criminal activities.

According to police officials, Ankit’s arrest was a result of the relentless efforts of a police team tasked to bust the criminal nexus in the area. An incident of firing occurred at a property dealer’s office in Sector-5 Rohini on February 15, prompting the police to take action against the gang members.

Ankit had been evading the police by constantly changing his mobile number and hideouts. However, he was eventually apprehended near Japanese Park in Rohini while discussing the next course of action with his associates. A loaded pistol and a live cartridge were recovered from his possession during the arrest.

Police revealed that Ankit had a history of criminal activities and had been previously arrested in 2019 under the Arms Act. After his release on bail, he escalated his criminal activities and became the main sharpshooter of the Gogi gang, maintaining contact with the gang’s kingpins from behind bars.

Earlier in January, the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch had arrested eight members and two juveniles associated with the Gogi gang in a series of raids in multiple states. The gang members were running an extortion racket in the national capital and its peripherals. The arrest of Ankit is seen as a significant breakthrough in dismantling the criminal activities of the gang.

Overall, the arrest of Ankit, the main sharpshooter of the Gogi gang, highlights the continued efforts of the Delhi Police in tackling organized crime and ensuring the safety and security of the citizens in the national capital.
