Shawn Mackey Takes Airbnb Host Pamela Fohler to Court for Blackmail

Shawn Mackey has filed a 22-page long complaint against Airbnb superhost Pamela Fohler after pictures of Shawn with another woman were sent to his wife.

Shawn Mackey had given a negative review of his stay after being almost evicted for unruly behavior.

Pamela Fohler has been listed as a superhost and has advertised her home for lodging at the rate of $567 per night.

Mackey had rented the house for four guests with an option of having additional guests in September 2022. He had rented the premises for a low-key dinner which was initially agreed upon by Fohler.

However, things did not turn out exactly as planned, and later Fohler asked the group to leave after neighbors objected and lodged a noise complaint.

In a fix, Shawn Mackey had to ask Fohler’s husband to intervene and allow the group to stay. Later Mackey gave a negative review and also asked for a partial refund of the $502.46 since he was not satisfied with the services rendered.

However, his request was denied and his account was also suspended. Fohler has been accused of blackmailing Mackey and he had to endure harassment due to his negative review. Fohler is also accused of trying to blackmail Mackey using the pictures of him with another woman.

When Shawn Mackey refused the extortion demand, Fohler sent the pictures to his wife causing much distress and disharmony in his marital life. It has been alleged that Fohler sent a $960 bill from Airbnb.

On her part, Fohler has denied all the accusations, Shawn Mackey is pushing forward with the lawsuit and is seeking unspecified actual and punitive damages.

What Is Airbnb?

Airbnb came into existence in 2008 when two designers decided to host travelers in the extra space they had in their residences. Today, the movement has expanded and millions of hosts and guests have created free Airbnb accounts which can be rented to travelers who want a place to stay and enjoy their vacation.
