Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan Dies at 58: His Life and Global Tributes

Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deputy ruler of UAE’s Abu Dhabi, passed away on Thursday, reported Khaleej Times. Before his demise, he held the position of National Security Advisor of the UAE. The ruler was born in June 1965.

On March 29, 2023, President Sheikh Mohammad appointed Sheikh Hazza as the Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi. The position was mutually shared with Sheikh Tahnoon, his brother, who holds the position of UAE’s National Security Advisor as well.

Political Career

Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the deceased, had an outstanding career. He served the nation with full dedication from 1983 when he joined the State Security Service. From 1989 to 1992, he was Abu Dhabi’s Deputy Head.

Moreover, until 2006, the deceased was the head of the State Security Service. Under his authority, he ensured the protection of citizens and provided national security.

Hazza also served as the National Security Advisor for 10 years, culminating in 2016. He played a crucial role in maintaining stability in this dynamic world. His contribution to national matters is undeniable.

UAE Mourns Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s Death

Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s daughter, Sheikha Fatima bint Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, stated the following morning about her father’s death. She wrote, “My first and last love, My Father, My Mentor, My Everything.”

The Prime Minister and Vice President of the UAE wrote, “Sheikh Hazza was a wise leader and a true friend,” while mourning Sheikh Hazza’s death.

World Leaders Pay Tribute

Not only the top citizens and officials from the UAE but other world leaders also paid tribute to Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s death.

The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shehbaz Sharif, went to X and wrote, “Deeply saddened to learn of the passing away of H.H. Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. I offer my profound condolences to H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and to members of the Royal Family, at this tragic news. May Allah SWT bless the departed soul with eternal peace in Jannah. Ameen!”

Haitham bin Tarik, the Sultan Of Oman also sent his condolences on the death of Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan to the President of the UAE. 

Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi also went to X and tweeted, “I offer my deepest condolences to Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, on the demise of Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan.”

Sheikh Hazza bin Sultan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s funeral ceremonies were conducted at Abu Dhabi’s Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed the First Mosque. It was attended by dignitaries, including Sheikhs and other officials. The deceased’s body was also accompanied to its final resting place at Al Bateen Cemetery.
