The Shillong Teer event is organized daily and the results of both rounds are declared in the evening at Meghalaya teer.com. The Shillong Teer is completely legal is organized by the Khasi Hills Archery Sports Association, and is played daily from Monday to Saturday at The Polo Ground.
Teer games have been in existence for long but were declared illegal in the early seventies. However, in the late eighties, the Teer game was again started by the Meghalaya Government under the Meghalaya Amended Amusement Act and has been in existence since then.
The rules of the game are very simple and a group of fifty archers shoot a predetermined number of arrows at a target in a time interval of two minutes. The players who buy the tickets bet on the number of arrows that are shot.
