According to statistics released by the police on Sunday, scam victims in Singapore lost a total of 651.8 million Singapore dollars (484 million U.S. dollars) last year, showing a slight decrease from the 660.7 million Singapore dollars lost in 2022.
The data further revealed that the top five scams in Singapore were job scams, e-commerce scams, fake friend call scams, phishing scams, and investment scams. Alongside these findings, the Singaporean police executed 24 state-wide enforcement activities against scams in 2023, leading to the investigation of over 9,600 money mules and scam suspects.
The rise in scam cases and the substantial financial loss suffered by victims in Singapore has raised concerns about the increasing prevalence of fraudulent activities and the impact on the local community. The authorities are expected to intensify efforts to combat scams and protect citizens from falling victim to such schemes in the future.

The Singaporean police have urged the public to report any suspicious activities and seek assistance to prevent further scams and fraudulent incidents from occurring in the country.
