SJVN commissions 100 MW solar power unit in Gujarat

SJVN Ltd has recently commissioned its 100 MW Raghanesda Solar Power Station in Gujarat’s Banaskatha district, marking the government-owned company’s second green energy unit to go live this month. The project, set to generate 252 million units of energy in the first year and 5,805 million units over 25 years, will supply power to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited under a long-term agreement.

With the addition of the Raghanesda Solar Power Station, SJVN’s total installed capacity has reached 2,377 MW. This milestone follows the recent commissioning of the 50 MW Gujrai Solar Power Station in Uttar Pradesh on February 23. The project was secured through competitive bidding at a tariff of Rs 2.64 per unit, with a total development cost of Rs 642 crore.

Financing for the project was sourced from the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, underlining SJVN’s commitment to green initiatives. The Raghanesda Solar Power Station is expected to play a significant role in supporting Gujarat’s renewable energy targets and enhancing energy security in the region.

SJVN Chairperson and Managing Director Geeta Kapur emphasized the company’s dedication to expanding the nation’s green energy landscape with the commissioning of their 11th power project. This achievement reinforces SJVN’s position as a major player in the energy sector, driving sustainable growth and environmental preservation efforts.

The successful commissioning of the Raghanesda Solar Power Station underscores SJVN’s commitment to advancing green energy initiatives and contributing to the energy transition in India. With a focus on responsible growth and environmental preservation, the company continues to make significant strides in the renewable energy sector and solidify its position as a key player in the industry.
