Snowfall and rain disrupt normal life in J&K
Srinagar, Feb 18 (IANS) – The higher reaches of Jammu and Kashmir experienced snowfall while the plains witnessed light rain on Sunday, causing disruptions in normal life. The Meteorological (MeT) Department has forecast widespread rain and snow in the union territory from Sunday till Wednesday.

According to the MeT Department, Srinagar had a minimum temperature of 5.8 degrees Celsius, while Gulmarg recorded minus 1.4 degrees Celsius and Pahalgam 2.5 degrees Celsius. In the Ladakh region, Leh town had a minimum temperature of minus 1.5 degrees Celsius and Kargil recorded 2.8 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, in Jammu city, the minimum temperature was 13 degrees Celsius, Katra 11.8 degrees Celsius, Batote 8.1 degrees Celsius, Bhaderwah 2.4 degrees Celsius and Banihal 7 degrees Celsius.

The snowfall in the higher reaches and the rain in the plains have disrupted normal life in the region. People are advised to take necessary precautions and stay indoors to avoid any inconvenience caused by the adverse weather conditions.
