Sources say Bengaluru cafe blast case handed over to NIA
In a recent development, the Karnataka government has handed over the investigation into the blast at a cafe in Bengaluru to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), as confirmed by sources on Monday. The NIA has already filed an FIR in connection with the case and will be collaborating with the state police in their probe.
Following the blast, the NIA, RAW, and NSG officials visited the blast site to gather inputs for their investigation. The documents and findings of the probe conducted by the special wing CCB of the state police will be handed over to the NIA by Tuesday, according to sources.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had indicated on Sunday that the government was considering transferring the case to the NIA if deemed necessary. The BJP had criticized the government for not taking the incident seriously and had been demanding the involvement of the NIA in the investigation.
BJP leaders have particularly criticized Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara for suggesting the angle of business rivalry in relation to the incident. The blast occurred on March 1, and the police have obtained CCTV footage of the perpetrator.
The explosion resulted in injuries to at least ten individuals, with one woman currently receiving treatment in the ICU. The authorities are working to gather more information and ensure a thorough investigation into the incident.
