Sporting Club Bengaluru Clinch I-League 2 Title with Two Rounds Remaining

Sporting Club Bengaluru emerged as champions of the 2023-24 I-League 2, securing promotion to the I-League 2024-25 after defeating Sudeva Delhi FC 1-0 at the Ambedkar Stadium in New Delhi on Monday. The Golden Tigers clinched the title with two rounds to spare.

SC Bengaluru’s remarkable rise to the top began in 2022 when they won the Bangalore Super Division in their debut season. This success led to their participation in the I-League 3, where they topped Group D and advanced to the play-offs, eventually earning a spot in the I-League 2.

The team’s dominant home form played a crucial role in their championship win, winning all seven matches at the Bangalore Football Stadium. With 23 goals scored and only 12 conceded, they boast the best attacking and defensive records in the league, showcasing their superiority.

Despite a rough start to the season with early losses, SC Bengaluru bounced back with a seven-game winning streak. A narrow victory over Sudeva Delhi, including Shaiborlang Kharpan’s decisive goal, sealed their title triumph, marking a historic moment for the city’s representation in the I-League.

With the champions crowned, the battle for the runners-up spot and the second promotion place remains intense, with Dempo SC, FC Bengaluru United, Sudeva Delhi FC, and Sporting Clube de Goa still in contention. The upcoming matchdays will determine which team earns the coveted promotion to the I-League.
