SRH’s Head smashes century to lead team to record-breaking total of 287/3 against RCB in IPL 2024

In a stellar performance, Travis Head’s blistering maiden century off 39 deliveries propelled Sunrisers Hyderabad to a record-breaking team total of 287/3 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru in Match 30 of IPL 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday.

Batting first on a favorable Bengaluru pitch, Head and Abhishek Sharma provided a solid start for SRH. With RCB missing Maxwell, offspinner Will Jacks bowled a disciplined first over. However, the second over by Reece Topley saw Head and Abhishek unleash an onslaught, taking 20 runs.

Head’s 20-ball fifty and Abhishek Sharma’s 34 off 22 deliveries set the tone for SRH. Head’s century in just 39 deliveries, with nine fours and eight sixes, marked a new record for the fastest century by a Sunrisers Hyderabad player.

After Head’s departure at 102 off 41 deliveries, Aiden Markram joined Klaasen in a successful partnership. Despite RCB’s pace bowlers being hammered, SRH posted an impressive total of 287/3 in 20 overs, fueled by Abdul Samad’s late heroics.

With 22 sixes in their inning, Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved a new record for the most sixes in an IPL innings. This performance eclipsed Chris Gayle’s 17 sixes for RCB in 2013, setting a new benchmark in the IPL record books.

In a dominant display of power-hitting and aggressive batting, Sunrisers Hyderabad showcased their strength and depth as they overwhelmed Royal Challengers Bengaluru to achieve a historic milestone in IPL history.
