SSKM clarifies ‘push’ theory on Mamata Banerjee’s injury

Kolkata’s SSKM Hospital Clarifies ‘Push’ Theory Behind Mamata Banerjee’s Injury

Kolkata, March 15 (IANS) – The authorities of state-run S.S.K.M Medical College & Hospital issued a fresh clarification on Friday regarding the forehead injury of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. S.S.K.M. Director Manimoy Bandopadhyay stated that the injury might have been caused by a push from behind near her home.

Bandopadhyay cleared the air by saying, “What I wanted to say is that there was a feeling of being pushed from behind,” in response to the interpretation of his previous statement. However, he refrained from providing further details when asked about specific medical conditions that might result in such a feeling.

Sources from the Trinamool Congress informed that the Chief Minister, currently stable at her official residence in Kalighat, South Kolkata, will be brought back to S.S.K.M Hospital for further examination by a medical team.

After being admitted to the hospital on Thursday around 7.30 p.m., Mamata Banerjee was treated by experts from neurosurgery, general medicine, and cardiology Departments. Despite being advised to stay, she insisted on returning home after undergoing medical examinations like electrocardiogram and CT scan.

The Trinamool Congress previously stated that the Chief Minister had tripped while walking at her residence. A photo released by the party’s social media cell showed the Chief Minister with a bleeding forehead following the incident.

“Our duty is to only treat patients. We are doing that only,” said Manimoy Bandopadhyay in response to the media’s queries. The hospital is prepared to re-examine Banerjee’s condition upon her return for further evaluation.
