Missing Millionaire Mike Lynch’s Co-Defendant Stephen Chamberlain Dies After Struck By A Car

Stephen Chamberlain, co-defendant of British tech tycoon Mike Lynch, who was designated as missing in Italy after a Yacht disaster, has died after being hit by a car. Mr. Chamberlain died after being fatally struck by the vehicle while out running in Cambridgeshire on Saturday

The Yacht belonged to Mike Lynch, British tech billionaire, who was also known as UK’s Bill Gates.

The 56-meter-long British-flagged sailboat sank on Monday and among the missing were the British tech billionaire and five others, including his daughter.

The other missing persons were Jonathan Bloomer, chairman of Morgan Stanley International, and Chris Morvillo, a lawyer at Clifford Chance who represented Lynch in the US fraud trial, and their wives

Both Stephen Chamberlain, 52, and Mike Lynch were defendants in a US fraud trial in which both men were acquitted following the $11bn (£8.64bn) sale of the software giant Autonomy.

Stephen Chamberlain Fatally Hit by Car

Mr Chamberlain died after being fatally struck by the vehicle while out running in Cambridgeshire on Saturday and his family has now paid tribute to him.

Mr. Lynch and his daughter are currently missing after a luxury yacht sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday.

Mr. Chamberlain’s family in a statement said,

 “Mr. Chamberlain was much loved husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was an amazing individual whose only goal in life was to help others in any way possible. He made a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.  He will be deeply missed but forever in the hearts of his loved ones.”

Stephen Chamberlain was struck by a car on the A1123 at Stretham in Cambridgeshire at about 10:10 BST on Saturday. He was rushed to the hospital but could not survive his injuries.

The driver of the vehicle which struck Stephen Chamberlain has been identified as a 49-year-old woman from Haddenham who remained at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.

Meanwhile divers are assisting the search for those missing from the yacht off the coast of Sicily

Stephen Chamberlain was the former vice-president of finance at Autonomy and prior to his trial also served as the former chief operating officer of British cyber security company Darktrace. A  Darktrace spokesperson said that Mr. Chamberlain was a “substantial contributor” to the team in its early years and was much loved by his colleagues and friends.

Darktrace also expressed sorrow for the death of Mr. Chamberlain and extended their deepest condolences to his wife and the rest of his family.
