The government has signed three different stimulus packages since the onset of this coronavirus pandemic. The first stimulus package included $1,200 in direct payments to Americans and the next one sent a whopping $600 their way. The recent stimulus payments, as part of President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Act, have sent $1,400 checks to Americans.

The fourth federal stimulus check appears unlikely, but that won’t stop various states and cities from launching or continuing their own cash assistance programs to the needy ones.

Below, we list the cities and states that are paying out payments this month.

1. New Jersey

The New Jersey Governor has just announced that they will be setting aside $40 million in federal money to help families who did not qualify for last year’s economic stimulus checks.

Undocumented immigrants will be a major focus of the group and the state is no longer accepting applications as the deadline passed recently.

Let us tell you, If you are approved, you will get a message with a username and password. This will be used to get to a link that will take you to the method of payment: Both by check or direct deposit.

Also, If your application is approved, you will receive the one-time benefit within two to three weeks. You can expect to get a cash benefit of $2,000 if you are eligible. A household can receive up to $4,000.

2. California

California’s two-state stimulus programs are worth up to $1,200 and 900 respectively. The western U.S. state recently issued a whopping 139,000 stimulus checks. Apart from this, the California government has announced that they will be sending out up to 70,000 stimulus checks from mid-March. The combined programs are estimated to reach another 60-70 thousand residents.

The checks are expected to go out in two rounds, first in mid-March then in mid-April. If you’re getting a paper check, it might take up to three weeks to reach you. To qualify as an eligible resident and receive either check from the California Board Of Equalization; Your household must make less than $75K per year AND have filed taxes before October 15th, 2021.

3. Shreveport, Louisiana

At this time, various cities and states have started their own UBI programs. This means that they are sending monthly payments to eligible residents and Shreveport, Louisiana is one of them. This city will be giving 110 residents $660 monthly payments for a year!

In order to get the payments, as per the guidelines, the resident must be a single parent and have an income that is 120% below the federal poverty line.

Let us tell you, the payments were scheduled to go out earlier this week, but there was a delay. The new date for the payments is Tuesday, March 8. This information was provided by the city’s pilot program manager to the leading news website, The Sun.

He also stated that the city will be issuing the payments through direct deposit.

There are a few things you need in order to get money from the IRS.

You will need these five documents to earn up to $22,503:-

  • W-2 form.
  • Child tax credit letter and form.
  • Child and dependent care tax credit form.
  • Earned income tax credit.
  • Stimulus check letter.

You should also note that there are deadlines for the stimulus check and UBI applications in the next month. Make sure you check those dates so you don’t miss out on any benefits.
