Sunil Bharti Mittal bestowed with honorary knighthood by King Charles III
New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) Bharti Enterprises Chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal has been granted an honorary knighthood by the United Kingdom, making him the first Indian citizen to receive this prestigious accolade. He has been appointed as the Knight Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (KBE) for his contributions to UK and India business relations.
The KBE is a highly esteemed honor presented by the British monarch to civilians, and is usually awarded to foreign nationals in an honorary capacity. Sunil Bharti Mittal expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am deeply humbled by this gracious recognition from His Majesty, King Charles. UK and India have historical relations, which are now entering a new era of increased cooperation and collaboration.”
