Footage has emerged of the torture of the four suspects who have been detained on suspicion of being involved in the deadly theater attack which led to the death of more than 150 people. The footage, which was posted online, showed the four suspects bloodied and bruised, with one in a wheelchair.
Footage of torture by Russian security forces has emerged online, hinting that men arrested on suspicion of planning the Moscow terrorist attack on Friday evening were being tortured and mutilated. The images, which have been shared on social media, revealed a string of brutal punishments being inflicted on the suspects, including shocks being administered to the genitals and force-feeding of his decapitated ear to another person.
One picture shows one of the suspects, identified as Shamsuddin Fariddun, being pinned to the ground, his trousers pulled down, and wires connected to his genitals originating from an 80-volt battery-powered radio.
Another gory picture shows another suspect named Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda being force-fed his severed ear. The four suspects have been identified as Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev, Saidakrami Murodali Rachabalizoda, Shamsuddin Fariddun, and Muhammadsobir Fayzov and have been produced before a court, and by their looks, it is evident that they have been tortured. Another video shows the suspects kneeling down and confessing to carrying out the attack.
The official News Agency of Russia, Tass, has said that the four men have been identified as Tajikistani citizens. The police have also arrested seven other people on charges of assisting the four suspects who carried out the attack.
Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev and Rachabalizoda also had black eyes, and the latter’s ear was bandaged. Fariddun’s face was swollen, and Dalerdzhon Mirzoyev and Rachabalizoda had one of his eyes missing. He was brought in a wheelchair but fainted in court. The court has sent all four suspects to custody for two months pending a trial, which is not going to happen sooner than May 22, 2024. The court also, in a statement, acknowledged that the suspects have admitted to their involvement in the terror attack.
Unconfirmed reports hint that the footage has been released deliberately by the Russian security forces as a PR exercise. There has been considerable criticism of the Russian FSB and security agencies for not preventing the attack.
