Syrian army shoots down 7 weaponised drones

In a recent development, the Syrian army successfully destroyed seven weaponised drones in Hama and Idlib governorates, as reported by the Syrian Defence Ministry. The drones, operated by terrorists, were targeting military positions, villages, and towns in the region, according to a Xinhua news agency report.

Rebels in northern Syria, especially in Idlib, have been increasing drone attacks on government-controlled areas. The deadliest attack occurred in October 2023, claiming the lives of over 80 military personnel and civilians during a graduation event at a military academy in Homs governorate.

The Syrian army’s action is a crucial step in thwarting terrorist activities and ensuring the safety of the affected areas. This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges faced by the Syrian government in the region. The army’s swift response indicates their commitment to safeguarding civilians and maintaining peace in the war-torn country.

As the situation in Syria continues to evolve, it is imperative for the government and armed forces to remain vigilant against terrorist threats. The successful destruction of these weaponised drones is a testament to the Syrian army’s capabilities in combatting such attacks. The international community must support efforts to stabilize the region and prevent further violence and instability.
