Taylor Swift's Sydney gig evacuated after lightning storm

LOS ANGELES, Feb 23 (IANS) – Taylor Swift’s concert in Sydney, Australia was abruptly evacuated due to safety concerns caused by lightning strikes on Friday. The Accor Stadium faced a setback as fans were forced to leave the lower levels of the venue.

According to reports from ‘Female First UK’, organisers urged fans to seek shelter as a storm accompanied by heavy rain, wind, and lightning hit the stadium. The situation led to the evacuation of the floor and lower bowl areas where the concert was taking place.

A post on Taylor’s ‘The Eras’ tour X account mentioned, “The floor and lower bowl are currently being evacuated due to lightning strikes nearby the stadium at today’s show of Taylor Swift’s ‘The Eras Tour’ in Sydney, Australia. Please stay safe and seek shelter for now #SydneyTSTheErasTour.”

Efforts by the stadium staff were focused on setting up the arena again for fans to return. They worked on resetting the floor and preparing the seats for the continuation of the show while urging everyone to stay sheltered until further notice.

Taylor Swift is still set to perform three more shows at the Sydney stadium over the weekend, with Sabrina as her support act. Following that, the singer will take the tour to Singapore for six shows at the National Stadium, before moving on to European countries such as France, Sweden, Portugal, Spain, and the UK.
