Telangana CM initiates investigation into ORR toll tender process

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has ordered a thorough probe into irregularities in the Outer Ring Road (ORR) toll tenders during the previous government’s regime. The CM expressed concern over the low finalisation price, leading to a significant revenue loss for the state.

During a review meeting, the Chief Minister questioned Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) officials for not setting a minimum rate before calling the tenders. He has directed a comprehensive investigation into the matter, including identifying those responsible for the irregularities.

HMDA Joint Commissioner Amrapali has been tasked with providing detailed information about the tender irregularities and the procedures followed. The Chief Minister also instructed officials to take legal action against anyone found responsible or involved in any missing ORR tender-related files.

Officials disclosed that the ORR generated Rs 600 crore annually before the tender process. The CM expressed concern over finalising the tender with IRB company at Rs 7,800 crore, far below the estimated revenue of Rs 18,000 crore over 30 years, potentially causing a loss of Rs 15,000 crore to the government.

CM Revanth Reddy has called for plans to develop Hyderabad, suggesting HMDA limits extend to the Regional Ring Road (RRR) and the construction of radial roads connecting ORR to RRR. Emphasizing infrastructure development in surrounding municipalities, he urged officials to hire a consultancy for a vision document aligned with Master Plan-2050.
