Thanksgiving day is an annual harvest festival marked in North America, and Europe on the 4th Thursday of November. the day is also an official holiday as most government offices, businesses, educational institutions, and other organizations remain closed on this day. This year the day is being celebrated on 24 November. On the day of Thanksgiving, people thank each other and pray to God for a good harvest in the coming year.

Unlike the United States and most European countries, Canada celebrates the festival on the second Monday of October as Columbus Day, which was held on October 10 this year.

There are many stories behind the origin of Thanksgiving, some believe that the festival was first marked by St. Augustine in Florida in 1565, while on the other hand, some believe that the first Thanksgiving Day was celebrated in 1621 by English colonists i.e. Pilgrims.

The Pilgrims were Europeans and settled in the United States in the 1620s. After their first successful farming in America, they organized a party to thank their neighbors, which became known as Thanksgiving Day.
