The 2022 results for the gaming industry in the United States and Nevada

The Nevada Resort Association recently released an annual report which shows that for 2022, legal casinos and betting shops paid $2.1 billion in taxes to the state and invested more than $23 billion in major projects in the state.
Applied Analysis has published a 100-page document called “2023 The Facts.” This book provides a look at the full picture of what has been happening in Nevada over the past two years. It includes data on capital expenditures, tax revenues, charitable giving, and other information.
Through this data, it is possible to tell the public how much tourism and gambling do for the state and the country as a whole. Despite the popularity of online casinos, land-based establishments generate huge profits. If www.topcadcasinos.net is to be believed, virtual casinos give no deposit bonuses to customers, but many of them still try to get to Nevada and play at the real gambling tables.
Talking about the basics, Nevada’s gambling market provides:
- 386,000 jobs (about 27 percent of the state’s workforce)
- $21.4 billion in annual wages and salaries
- $90.7 billion in total economic impact (about 43% of total GDP)
- 35% of the state’s total revenue for the year
- $14.6 billion in net gambling revenue per year
The head of Applied Analysis said that, working closely with the gaming industry, she was not surprised by this year’s report. However, she was pleasantly surprised by the high level of casino participation in major community initiatives.
She said that this year they tried to tell the story about the various corporate initiatives that companies were taking in the area of social responsibility. And the results were really impressive.
Various projects and initiatives were featured in the report. For example, Boyd Gaming Corp. developed water conservation standards for bedding and uniforms.
MGM Resorts International installed a solar panel. Palms has made grants and awards to the University of Nevada as well as 30 local charities. Red Rock Resorts contributed to the fight against COVID-19 through food donations and funding for public education.
Resorts World Las Vegas has supported 40 charities working in areas ranging from animal welfare to the fight against homelessness. The Venetian and Wynn Resorts have organized volunteer programs.
Such initiatives are difficult to quantify, as each resort contributes in its own way. But overall, the gaming industry’s cumulative investments in the city will help the state cope with the potential challenges of inflation and recession.
The report contained information on 57 tourism investments in Nevada totaling $23 billion. Of these investments, 46 were related to southern Nevada and included projects under construction or planned.
