The Ansari family seeks to have Abbas transferred to a different prison

The family of the late Mukhtar Ansari is seeking the transfer of his son Abbas Ansari to another jail from Kasganj jail in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghazipur. Abbas, allowed to visit his home for three days after his father’s death, is planned to return to Kasganj jail soon.

Abbas Ansari was brought to Ghazipur jail amidst tight security and will return to Kasganj jail on April 13. The family is preparing to file a petition for his transfer to another jail for security reasons. Mukhtar Ansari’s son Umar has already filed a petition seeking information on his father’s treatment before his death.

According to Umar Ansari, there is a conspiracy to harm Abbas Ansari like their father, so they are demanding a change in Abbas’s jail for safety concerns. The judicial investigation team is looking into Mukhtar Ansari’s death and has summoned his BHT (bed head ticket) from the medical college for further inquiry.

Mukhtar Ansari’s family had accused him of being poisoned in jail on March 20. After his condition worsened on March 26, he was taken to the Medical College where he was kept in the ICU and later sent back to the jail. His death on March 28 raised suspicions of a heart attack, as there was no cardiologist present at the Medical College at that time.
