The Seventh And Last Phase Of the 2024 Lok Sabha Elections Conclude Today, All Eyes Now On June 4 When Results Will Be Declared

The world’s biggest democratic exercise, the Indian Lok Sabha 2024 elections enters its last stage and 57 seats will go to the polls.

The seats are spread across seven states and it includes three in Chandigarh and Jharkhand, four in Himachal, six in Odisha, eight in Bihar, nine in Bengal, and 13 seats in Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Many states like Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are facing torrid heat and this can have an effect on the final voter turnouts.

In the past 24 hours, as reported by The Indian Express, 18 polling officials have lost their lives due to heat-related health issues. In all 30 deaths of electoral officials have been reported across the states where elections are being held.

The last phase of the elections has seen parties putting in all their efforts and it has led to many flashpoints between the ruling BJP and the opposition INDIA bloc.

The countdown has also started for AAP and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal who is out on bail which will end tomorrow and he will be back in jail.

Arvind Kejriwal had obtained bail to enable him to campaign ahead of the election in Delhi and Punjab, the two states where his party has power.

While the Prime Minister face of NDA is evident INDIA bloc’s prime ministerial candidate is still not clear and the lack of one has often led to jibes from the BJP.

When repeatedly poked by the media Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge said that the question will be answered once the election results have been declared by the member parties in the alliance.

However, Kharge did hint that Rahul Gandhi will be the consensus candidate and acceptable to most parties.

The election will also seal the fate of the candidates of the remaining 42 assembly constituencies of Odisha.

Odisha State Assembly elections are being held along with the Lok Sabha Polls.

As stated 57 constituencies will go to polls in the last phase of the election and 904 candidates are contesting in these constituencies.

The previous six phases have seen voting for 486 Lok Sabha seats.

Today many high profile personalities’ seats will be decided.

This includes Himachal’s Mandi, BJP’s Kangana Ranaut who makes her electoral debut against Vikramaditya Singh of Congress.

Lalu Prasad Yadav’s eldest daughter Misa Bharti will represent RJD against BJP candidate Ram Kripal Yadav, who joined the party ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls, and has won twice before.

Odisha has also seen a big fight between BJP-BJD Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s “advanced age and health issues” has been criticized by Mr Modi.
