Threads to Release API for Developers by June

San Francisco, March 2 (IANS) Meta-owned Threads will be launching its application programming interface (API) for developers by June this year. The company is currently testing the API with a small group of partners and independent developers. Threads engineer Jesse Chen mentioned that they aim to make the API widely accessible by the end of June.

Chen stated, “While we will limit access to the Beta at this time, we hope to make the API broadly available by the end of June.” The Threads API has been developed over the past few months to help creators, developers, and brands manage their presence on Threads and easily share content from third-party applications.

The current capabilities of the API include user authentication, thread publishing, and content fetching. The company plans to add reply moderation and insights features in the near future. Instagram head Adam Mosseri has also confirmed that they are working on an API to enhance third-party experiences.

In addition to the API launch, Meta is testing a cross-posting feature that will allow users to share posts from Facebook to Threads. This feature is similar to the one used for posting Stories and Reels on both Facebook and Instagram simultaneously. The company is continuously working on improving user experiences across its platforms.

Overall, the launch of the Threads API and the upcoming features indicate Meta’s commitment to enhancing user interactions and streamlining content sharing on Threads. Developers and users can expect a more seamless and integrated experience on the platform in the coming months.
