Three airstrikes conducted by US and UK in Yemen’s port

Warplanes from the US and Britain carried out multiple airstrikes in Yemen’s Hodeidah port city, targeting Houthi militants in the Ras Issa area of al-Salif district on Monday. The strikes were reportedly aimed at the Houthi-controlled sea military base, according to local residents and media reports.

Residents in Hodeidah took to social media to share details of the airstrikes, which have not been officially confirmed by the coalition forces. The escalation in airstrikes comes as the Houthi rebels have been increasingly targeting commercial shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.

The US and Britain initiated air and missile strikes against Houthi targets in Yemen in response to the rebels’ attacks on commercial ships since mid-January. However, instead of deterring the Houthi forces, the strikes seem to have incited further aggression from the rebel group.

The ongoing conflict in Yemen has created a complex and volatile situation, with various factions vying for control. The recent airstrikes in Hodeidah underscore the ongoing struggle for power and control in the region, with no clear end in sight. The coalition forces have yet to provide a statement on the recent airstrikes, leaving many questions unanswered about the future trajectory of the conflict.
